Africa’s Richest Woman, Folorunsho Alakija, Loses Her Sight
Folorunsho Alakija, the 73-year-old Nigerian billionaire and founder of Famfa Oil, has reportedly lost her sight. Medical sources indicate that her vision deteriorated following a near-air mishap during a flight with her husband, Modupe Alakija, Chairman of Famfa Oil. The incident is believed to have caused a significant spike in her blood pressure, adversely affecting her eyesight.
In response to her health challenges, Alakija is said to have acquired a new private jet to avoid future flights with her husband. Additionally, she reportedly established a church for spiritual support. Despite these efforts, her eyesight continued to decline, leading to complete vision loss.
Alakija’s journey from a fashion entrepreneur to a billionaire oil magnate is notable. She began her career as a fashion designer and later ventured into the oil industry, securing a significant stake in the Agbami deepwater oilfield in Nigeria. Her business acumen has earned her recognition, including being ranked as the 87th most powerful woman in the world by Forbes in 2015.
This development has garnered widespread attention, and many are expressing their support and well wishes for her recovery.
