CAC Fires Back After Pastor Fatoyinbo Calls Apostle Babalola ‘Anointed But Broke’

The Christian social media space has been buzzing after Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of COZA made a controversial statement about the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, founder of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC).

During a recent sermon, Pastor Fatoyinbo described Apostle Babalola as “highly anointed but had no money,” before asking, “Where are his children?”

The remark didn’t sit well with members and leaders of the CAC, who are fiercely protective of Apostle Babalola’s legacy. Many saw the comment as disrespectful and misleading — and they weren’t about to let it slide.

In a swift response, a CAC leader stated:

“Sir, anointing is not measured by bank account, but by sacrificial service.”

The leader went on to highlight that Apostle Babalola lived a fulfilled and respectable life, owning one of the best Ford Jeeps of his time, sponsoring weddings, funding education, and running apprenticeship programs — all without exploiting the pulpit.

On the question of his children, the CAC pointed out that Mama Eunice Wuraola Ogini and Apeke Adeniyi are alive, blessed, fulfilled, and quietly serving God, with no loudness or greed.

They also cautioned against linking ministry success solely to material wealth, calling it “greed, corruption, and unbiblical thinking.”

As a final reminder of Apostle Babalola’s honor, they noted that when Queen Elizabeth II visited Nigeria in 1956, Babalola was among the respected dignitaries invited — proof of the influence and respect he commanded.

Whether this was a holy clapback or gentle correction, one thing is certain: CAC is determined never to let Babalola’s legacy be reduced to naira and kobo.
