Mohbad Father Accuses Naira Marley of Lying and Bullying His Son

Joseph Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has once again spoken out about the challenges his son faced in his career and the circumstances surrounding his tragic death.

In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Aloba revealed that Mohbad experienced significant mistreatment during his lifetime, refuting recent statements made by Naira Marley, his former record label boss.

Earlier this week, Naira Marley released a video denying any role in Mohbad’s struggles or death. He claimed that his only intention was to guide the young singer, particularly after learning that Mohbad had allegedly begun using hard substances.

Aloba recounted:

“I went to see Naira Marley over some of the things Mohbad had said, and that was all. But later, I personally witnessed a lot of other troubling events. There were about three other people present at the time; two of them are still alive today. They were part of Naira Marley’s team, even though they were younger and under his guidance. One of them even came to me to report that Naira Marley was physically abusing Mohbad.

When we went to apologise, he didn’t even speak respectfully. People think I went there for money, but life is much bigger than what I eat or want.”

Addressing reports that Mohbad conducted financial transactions through an unfamiliar bank account, Aloba explained that Naira Marley had previously raised concerns about it.

“Naira Marley complained that Mohbad was receiving money through an account that wasn’t his and that he had to insist Mohbad use his personal account. I also noticed Mohbad sending me money from a different account, and I told him anything he wanted to give me should come from his own account. That’s all I know about the matter.”
