Ladies Who Collect Money from Men Without Visiting Risk Jail, Nigerian Police Warn

A Nigerian police officer has sparked heated conversations online after warning young ladies against a rising trend of collecting money from men without fulfilling the agreed visit.
According to the officer, such acts amount to fraud (419) under Nigerian law and can be treated as a criminal offense punishable with imprisonment.
“Any lady who collects transport money or any form of financial benefit from a man with the promise of visiting him, but fails to show up, is committing fraud. This act is punishable under the law and can land you in prison,” the officer explained.
The statement has stirred massive reactions across social media, with many Nigerians debating whether the practice should be considered a crime or simply a moral issue.
While some argue that deceiving men for money is indeed fraudulent, others believe the police should focus on more pressing security challenges rather than personal relationship issues.
The officer, however, maintained that obtaining money under false pretenses is a criminal act, regardless of the circumstances.
This revelation has left many Nigerians divided—raising important questions about accountability, honesty, and where the line should be drawn in modern dating culture.
