Isaac Fayose Sparks Controversy, Declares Nigeria Hausa and Yoruba Land

Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has ignited a nationwide debate with his recent statement claiming that Nigeria belongs solely to the Hausa and Yoruba ethnic groups.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Fayose challenged the commonly held belief that Nigeria’s unity is based on the three major ethnic groups—Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba.
He asserted, “They said Nigeria belongs to Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba, but that’s a lie… take out that Igbo, stop including them because it’s a lie.”
This bold declaration has sparked a wave of reactions across the country. Some Nigerians have expressed support for Fayose’s perspective, labeling it an “honest truth” about the nation’s political landscape. Others have criticized his remarks, accusing him of promoting ethnic division and undermining national unity.
In the comment section of a viral post, one user wrote, “Honest truth,” while another commented, “History will never forget you, brother. I’m not Igbo, but I love the way you speak and stand for the truth. We need it to move this nation forward.”
Conversely, some users questioned the validity of Fayose’s statement, with one asking, “Where is Jonathan from?” referring to former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, who is of Ijaw descent.
The debate continues to unfold, highlighting the complexities of Nigeria’s ethnic dynamics and the ongoing discussions about representation and power-sharing in the country.
