Tiwa Savage Admits She’s Open to Being a Second Wife: “I’d Respect the First Wife”

Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage has once again sent social media buzzing with a surprisingly honest confession about love and marriage.

The 45-year-old music star recently appeared as a guest on the popular Lip Service Podcast, where she discussed dating, relationships, and intimacy. During the conversation, Savage made a revelation that stunned many of her fans — she’s open to the idea of a polygamous marriage.

“If I can meet somebody that can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know, maybe I could be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife,” she said.

“I’m very respectful. I know that you are the first wife, and I would accord you that respect.”

Her remarks quickly made headlines, reigniting public curiosity about her love life nearly a decade after her marriage to her former manager, Tunji ‘Teebillz’ Balogun, ended.

The Tumultuous Marriage and Public Split

Tiwa Savage’s romantic history has often played out in the public eye, particularly her marriage to Teebillz. The pair tied the knot in 2013 in a glamorous ceremony and welcomed their son, Jamil Balogun, in 2015.

However, their relationship fell apart dramatically in April 2016 after Teebillz made a series of troubling posts on social media — accusing the singer of infidelity and hinting at suicidal thoughts.

Days later, Tiwa sat down for an explosive interview with ThisDay’s Azuka Ogujiuba, where she gave her side of the story. She accused her then-husband of infidelity, financial recklessness, and drug use, while firmly denying the cheating allegations made against her.

“I will say for the record, I have never cheated on my husband — NEVER!” she declared during the interview.

Their divorce was finalized in 2018, but both have since maintained an amicable co-parenting relationship for their son.

Life After Divorce

Since the split, Tiwa Savage has kept her personal life away from the spotlight, though she has occasionally opened up about the challenges of dating as a famous woman.

In 2021, she faced another wave of intense public scrutiny after a private video was leaked online — a moment she later described as deeply personal but one she eventually overcame.

Now, Tiwa’s latest comments show she’s moved past the pain of the past and remains open to finding love again — even if it means sharing a husband.
