Lawyer Festus Drags FG to Court Over N25,000 Cash Transfer, Demands List of 8.1 Million Beneficiaries

Human rights lawyer, Festus Ogun, who previously made headlines for suing Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over blocking him on Twitter, has once again stirred conversations online.
This time, the outspoken lawyer has announced plans to petition the Federal Government over its widely publicized N25,000 cash transfer scheme.
According to Ogun, the government recently claimed that over 8.1 million Nigerian households benefited from the initiative. However, many Nigerians have openly expressed doubts, with some insisting they never saw or knew anyone who received the cash palliative.
Ogun has now demanded the full list of beneficiaries, stressing that transparency and accountability must be prioritized when it comes to public funds.
“The government cannot just throw figures around without showing Nigerians the facts,” he said, while revealing that he would officially petition relevant agencies to produce the full details of those who allegedly benefited.
His move has already generated mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians applauding his bold step, while others argue that such petitions might not yield results.
Meanwhile, critics have continued to question the credibility of the government’s palliative scheme, with some describing it as a “ghost project” designed to siphon funds.
As pressure mounts, Nigerians are now waiting to see whether the Federal Government will release the much-demanded list of 8.1 million households or remain silent on the controversy.
