Viral Video: Pastor Demands $1,000 to Stop Him from Reversing Prophecy for Abroad Woman

A video from a Nigerian church service has gone viral on social media, sparking heated debates about prophecy, pastors, and money in religion.
In the viral clip, a pastor pointed at a woman during service and declared: “I see that you are having a land problem.”
The woman confirmed his statement: “Yes sir, my daughter told me to buy land, but we are having issue with it.”
The pastor then asked why they didn’t contact “Jagaban” before proceeding with their land plans. But things took a dramatic turn when he suddenly switched the prophecy to the woman’s daughter living abroad.
He reminded the congregation that he had previously prophesied that her daughter would travel, and according to him, that prophecy came true. Now the daughter had started buying land abroad — but, in his words, “she didn’t even bother to buy for me first.”
The real controversy began when the pastor went further and openly demanded money. He said:
“If she does not want me to reverse the prophecy, she must settle me with $1,000 first.”
The statement shocked many, as the pastor was not only linking the daughter’s success to his prophecy but also suggesting he had the power to revoke it unless he was paid.
The video has sparked massive backlash online. Some Nigerians argue that the woman should have shown appreciation if the prophecy came true, while others condemned the pastor’s words, calling it outright spiritual blackmail.
On X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, many questioned whether a prophecy that has already come to pass can even be “reversed.” Others pointed out that true prophecy from God should not be transactional or dependent on money.
While the debate rages on, one thing is clear: the video has once again reignited conversations about faith, money, and manipulation in Nigerian churches.
